Using the site
4x4s.org is free to use for personal, educational and non-commercial purposes. By using it you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may change these terms; the date at the top moves when we do.
Accuracy and no warranty
The registry is enthusiast research. Every record says how far it has been checked (draft, researched or verified) and cites its sources, but errors are certain in a body of work this size — see the FAQ. Nothing here is advice on buying, restoring, valuing or driving a vehicle, and the game's physics are a game. The site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, and we accept no liability for loss arising from reliance on it, to the extent the law allows. If you spot a mistake, tell us.
Trade marks and affiliation
Land Rover, Defender, Range Rover, Discovery, Series and related names, badges and vehicle designs are trade marks of Jaguar Land Rover Limited; Camel Trophy, G4 Challenge and the names of other events, companies and organisations belong to their owners. They are used here only to identify the vehicles and events being described. 4x4s.org is an independent project and is not endorsed by, sponsored by or affiliated with any of them.
What you may copy
Research text (the written records, histories, expedition pages and maker pages) is © 4x4s.org and may be quoted with a link back; ask before reproducing whole pages. Structured data — the vehicle, maker, place and expedition data files — may be reused for non-commercial purposes with attribution to difflocked.com. 3D renders of the site's own models may be shared with credit for non-commercial use. Photographs reproduced on the site come from Wikimedia Commons and other free archives under the licence stated in their caption (CC BY, CC BY-SA, public domain); that licence, and its author credit, governs your reuse of them, not these terms. The game's code, models and artwork are © 4x4s.org; the source repository states any open-source licence that applies.
AI usage
We use AI in two ways, and say so wherever it appears. Research assistance: parts of the registry's research are found and drafted with the help of AI models, then reviewed, checked against sources and cited by hand; the citations on each record are what the claims rest on, and the review status says how far that has been done. Rendered impressions: some vehicle and build pages carry an “AI rendering impression”, made by an image model (Google Gemini) from the site's own 3D render and the record's description. These are illustrations, always labelled, never presented as photographs or as evidence of how a real vehicle looked. No photograph of a real vehicle is altered by AI. If an AI-made image or AI-assisted text about a vehicle you own or a person you are is wrong or objectionable, contact us and we will correct or remove it.
Your builds and contributions
You keep the rights to vehicles you build in the Creator and to anything you send us. By publishing a build or sending a correction, suggestion or image you give 4x4s.org a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display it on the site, render it (including with AI, unless you ask us not to), and use it to improve the registry, with credit to your username where it is shown. You confirm you have the right to share what you send — in particular that photographs are yours or free to reuse and that you name their licence. We may edit or remove contributions that are inaccurate, unlawful, offensive, infringing or off-topic.
Accounts and conduct
One account per person; keep your password to yourself and tell us if it is compromised. Choose usernames, build names and leaderboard names that are not abusive, impersonating or misleading; the site filters obvious offensive words and we remove what slips through. Do not attempt to overload, probe or attack the site or its API, submit fabricated race times, or scrape it at a rate that affects other users. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these rules.
Takedown and corrections
If you own the rights to something reproduced here, are pictured or named in a way you object to, or think a record about your vehicle or organisation is wrong, use the contact form with the page address and what you would like changed. Copyright complaints should identify the work and your right to it; we act promptly and will tell the contributor where there is one.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, without affecting any consumer rights you have where you live.
