Mission Berliet-Tchad — Series II 109 Station Wagon

Fondation Berliet records three light reconnaissance Land Rovers with the second mission in autumn 1960. The Journal du 4x4 account also distinguishes a civilian blue 109 station wagon used for passengers and dignitaries. The elevated Fort-Lamy photograph establishes this station wagon’s blue-grey body, pale tropical roof with small vents, rear roof rails, pale steel wheels, bonnet spare and rear spare. The model follows that photograph rather than copying the bumper cans and pennants from the scout vehicles. The existing Berliet 88 and pickup models separately represent the returning reconnaissance pattern and are linked on the second expedition page. Exact paint shade, registration and the individual owner of the pictured station wagon are unconfirmed; it is not asserted to be Armand Deviq’s private vehicle.
