Description
The first production Land Rover winch: a capstan bollard bolted onto the rear PTO and driven by its 6-spline shaft, giving rope speeds of 8 to 34.5 ft/min at 600 rpm depending on the gear selected. Its mounting lugs and bollard pins failed under load and Rover dropped it in 1955 in favour of the front capstan.
Requires centre and rear PTO
Rarity. Made only 1949 to May 1955 and withdrawn because the four-stud mounting broke above 2,500 lb; lr-winches asks €13,999 for a used and €22,000 for a rebuilt complete setup.
Record: 2 sources; designation recorded; price recorded.
