Description
Single-stage centrifugal fire pump mounted on the front bumper and driven from the nose of the crankshaft through a universal joint and Metalastik coupling, with a dog clutch so it can be isolated when not pumping. Rated 500 imperial gpm at 100 psi at 3,200 rpm, needing 55 bhp, with liquid-ring primer, two 2½ in delivery valves, 4 in suction and a gauge panel; the Land Rover needed diesel-spec front springs and an oil cooler kit.
Front-mounted; petrol 4-cylinder shown
Rarity. Supplied as a kit to fire-appliance builders (Carmichael Redwing, HCB-Angus Firefly) rather than to private buyers; survives on preserved Series fire tenders but is not seen for sale separately.
Record: 2 sources; designation recorded; no price recorded.
