Description

The Wolf-era British forces Land Rover trailer: a welded-steel chassis carrying a stainless-steel tub with drop tailgate, on Wolf-pattern 6.50Jx16 wheels and 7.50R16 Michelin XZL tyres so the towing vehicle's spare fits. Hydraulic over-run disc brakes with auto-reverse, breakaway lanyard, NATO hitch and 24V NATO 12-pin lighting; issued to Army, Navy and RAF units from 2004.

Hubs machined to accept Wolf high-specification wheel and tyre assemblies; drawn only by vehicles with an attachment for the breakaway lanyard. Tows nose-down behind an unlifted standard Defender because the hitch sits on top of the A-frame.

Rarity. MoD requisition quantity 6,194 under contract LLV/DBG/424 with in-service date February 2004 and a planned 20-year life; released in batches from the late 2010s (L Jackson listed 200 in stock), so readily found ex-MoD at £850-1,000. Still made by Penman/MW Scotland for export (Cayman Islands Regiment, 2025).

Record: 8 sources; designation recorded; no price recorded.
