Description

The wide-track successor to the narrow-track Sankey, matched to the Ninety/One Ten and later Wolf Defender track width, with a drop tailgate and a jockey wheel. Mk1 and Mk2 have hydraulic over-run brakes; the Mk3 used with Wolf has disc brakes, a fluid reservoir on the A-frame and Flexible Lamp Co plastic lights, and was built by three contractors with two NSNs because of differing electrics.

Track matches Ninety/One Ten/Defender; NATO hitch and 24V NATO 12-pin lighting.

Rarity. Around 1,800 FV2381s were still in MoD service in 2001 when a refurbishment to extend life by 18 years was announced; withdrawal was scheduled from 2008 and Withams sold them in yard-filling numbers, so they remain the most common ex-Army Land Rover trailer (used £100-350 in 2009).
