Dorset SAR Defender 110

Defender 110 station wagon Y639 TUK liveried as Dorset Search and Rescue but never part of the team's fleet: used by a civilian international major-incident adviser assisting Dorset Police and the MOD on a pre-Olympic training exercise at Lulworth, with independently switched blue and amber lights — livery and blue lights since removed.

The record

ukemergency.co.uk's entry for Y639 TUK explains an odd one: a dark green Defender 110 station wagon wearing Dorset Search and Rescue markings that did not belong to Dorset SAR, the volunteer team formed in 2004. It was the personal vehicle of a civilian international major-incident adviser who assisted Dorset Police and the Ministry of Defence in running a pre-Olympic training exercise in Dorset in the run-up to the 2012 Games and their Weymouth sailing events. With a roof rack, a light bar of blue and amber lenses that could be used independently, a snorkel and the Dorset SAR badge on the doors, it was photographed in the exercise period; neither the livery nor the use of blue lights outside the MOD training grounds at Lulworth was approved, and both have since been removed.

The registry's model is a green Defender 110 station wagon with the rack, blue and amber light bar, snorkel, wing-top chequer plate and door badge, and Y639 TUK plates; in the game it carries the blue-light boost.

AI rendering impression

An AI rendering impression starts from a 3D model of this vehicle, which an image model then paints into a scene. It is an artist's impression of the type, made to give a feel for the vehicle in its element — not a photograph, and not a record of any particular vehicle.

Proportions, fittings, markings, colours and the setting can all drift from the original in the process. For the vehicle's actual details, rely on the specification, the photographs and the cited sources on this page.
