The record

Police Scotland's Underwater Search Unit, inherited from Strathclyde Police when the national force formed in 2013, is based at Greenock on the Clyde, sharing the fire station site with the Coastguard. Its divers search rivers, lochs and the coast for evidence and missing people and provide water rescue cover, and their Defender 110 hard top carries dive kit and compressed-air cylinders — hence the hazard diamond on the body — to slipways and riverbanks the unit's vans cannot reach.

The January 2015 Flickr photograph shows SN12 CHZ outside the Greenock station: white Puma-era 110 hard top with two rows of blue and yellow battenburg along the doors and rear body up to the rear arch, POLICE in blue on the front doors and bonnet, the Police Scotland saltire crest and a green compressed-gas diamond on the hard-top sides with the force's Twitter handle beneath, a small hard-top window, a full-length roof rack carrying the spare wheel and two spot lamps, a plain black bumper and white steel wheels. The registry model reproduces that vehicle in the Marine and Police groups.

AI rendering impression

An AI rendering impression starts from a 3D model of this vehicle, which an image model then paints into a scene. It is an artist's impression of the type, made to give a feel for the vehicle in its element — not a photograph, and not a record of any particular vehicle.

Proportions, fittings, markings, colours and the setting can all drift from the original in the process. For the vehicle's actual details, rely on the specification, the photographs and the cited sources on this page.
