Koenig King winch (LR-100, LR-591/592, LR-621)

Heavy steel-cable drum winch derived from an oil-derrick winch, one of the first drum winches offered for the Land Rover in North America and rated at 8,000 lb continuous. The common LR-100 and LR-591/592 are driven from the front of the crankshaft; the rarer LR-621 is driven from the PTO through a Centrex PTO housing and needs a modified front exhaust pipe. Carried on the British Trans-Darien expedition of the early 1960s.

Sold as a Land Rover dealer option in Canada and the USA

Rarity. North American dealer option from the late 1950s to late 1960s, specified on many Canadian government Land Rovers; parts stock was disposed of in the early 1990s, working examples traded at US$500-650 in the 1990s and rebuilt L621 sets now fetch €4,499-9,499 (lr-winches).
